All Feelings Are Allowed

Feelings are not good or bad. They are information. Even the hard feelings — anger, sadness, fear, loneliness — are telling you something important about what you need.

😊
Happy

Something good happened. Enjoy it!

😭
Sad

Something hurts. It’s okay to cry.

😡
Angry

Something feels unfair. Anger has a message.

😨
Scared

Something feels unsafe. Tell a trusted adult.

😔
Worried

Your brain is trying to protect you.

😄
Proud

You did something hard. That matters.

What to Do When You Feel Big Feelings

💨 Take a slow breath

Breathe in slowly for 4 counts, hold for 2, breathe out for 6. Do this three times. It tells your body it is safe to calm down.

📝 Name the feeling

Just saying “I feel scared” or “I feel sad” out loud or writing it down can make the feeling a little smaller. Feelings are easier to handle when they have a name.

🤖 Try the 5-4-3-2-1 trick

Name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste. This brings you back to right now, in this safe moment.

🧡 Talk to a trusted adult

A parent, teacher, school counselor, or another adult who makes you feel safe. You do not have to figure out big feelings alone.

Body Safety Rules

Every child deserves to feel safe in their body. These are rules that protect you:

  • Your body belongs to you
  • No one should touch your private parts except a doctor with a parent present, or for health reasons with your permission
  • You are allowed to say no to any touch that feels wrong — even from adults you know
  • Secrets about your body or touches are not okay to keep — tell a trusted adult
  • If someone tries to touch you in a way that feels wrong, it is never your fault
  • If someone tells you to keep a touch secret, that is a sign to tell a trusted adult right away

Being Kind — to Others and Yourself

  • Kindness is noticing how someone else might feel and doing something about it
  • If you make a mistake, saying sorry and making it right is brave — not weak
  • You do not have to be friends with everyone, but everyone deserves basic respect
  • Being kind to yourself means not calling yourself names or saying you are stupid or bad
  • Everyone is learning. You are allowed to make mistakes and try again
